So, upon arriving home, I've found that my desktop will no longer POST. My guess is the RAM or the mobo is bad. The machine is 6ish years old though, and I'm considering upgrading just to be rid of its hassle.

So, I looked around a bit for some parts, and this is the setup I'm considering...

For the OS, I'm thinking I'll use Fedora or Ubuntu, and just use Wine for any games I'd want to play.

Anyone have any thoughts, opinions, etc? This is my first time building a computer, though I've spent enough time upgrading/fixing my old desktop that I think I'd be capable of putting everything together easily enough.
  2. I haven't looked at all of it yet, but, there isn't a need to buy an additional sound card. Your mobo already has one. I'm an audiophile and engineer recordings and live gigs. Creative Labs is par with everything else in my book. Most mobo's use AC '97 and it is pretty suffice.

I'm now leaning Fedora for the OS too, since it looks like Canonical isn't going to start liking GNOME 3 anytime soon. Plus, Fedora is more secure.
