Farmable Netherwart!

Discussion in 'Suggestions' started by KamiofLunacy, Jul 22, 2012.

  1. Seeing as Netherwart is currently only obtainable through random block drops in Eremos, and it's rather critical for potionmaking, I'd suggest a more effective method of obtaining it: in this case, being able to farm it in the overworld (in fact, this is doable in the newest snapshot - 12w27a - but the server isn't running that version of Minecraft).

According to the wiki, Netherwart checks if the biome is the Nether biome and also checks a random integer, using the code if((biomegenbase instanceof BiomeGenHell) && random.nextInt(15) == 0) so it should be fairly easy to change it to either just check the random integer or use a different biome altogether. Eremos' biome is Swampland if I recall correctly, so changing the netherwart growth code to refer to swampland instead of the Nether would allow it to be grown in Eremos and select areas in the main world.
  2. Wait for 1.3. It's in the code.
