Help setting up a server!

  1. Hey guys, if anyone knows anything about setting up a server I really want to set one up for me and my friends to just mess around on, and I got hamachi and whatnot but I really need help... If anyone could help me that would much appreciated!

    When I did it, literally all I did was download the .jar for the server, run it in a screen, and set iptables to open the default port. Then I went down to my router and forwarded the ports from my desktop to the router.

    I was on Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty)
  4. See I dont know HOW to forward the port... if i did i wouldnt be having this problem ;) im kind of a noob when it comes to things like this

    It varies by router model. And there are literally zillions of router models.

    Google "port forwarding" and thumb through a few guides for different models. It'll be the same strategy but will just look slightly different for every router.
