Mods/addons Recommended to Use on the Server

Discussion in 'Mods, Texture Packs, and Maps (Challenges)' started by Pythros, Jun 24, 2011.

  1. I recommend these addons/mods as I use them myself. They will greatly increase your experience in the game and on the server.

    Rei's Minimap- http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/482 ... ap-v30-01/
    WorldEdit GUI- http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/885 ... rface-v10/
    MipMap - http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/121 ... ing-patch/
Dynamic Lights - I highly support this plugin for night time using torches. - http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/184 ... ether-too/
    Improved Chat - http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/123 ... __11941426
    Random Mobs - http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/244 ... 26-wolves/

My typical order of installing them:

    1. MCPatcher with Dynamic Lights and Random Mobs
    2. Mod Loader
    3. Zombe
    4. Improved Chat
    5. TMI
    6. SPC
    7. MipMap

With using the latest ModLoader, ReiMinimap no longer needs to be installed to the jar file. Instead, you place it's zip file into ./minecraft/mods.
  2. Re: Plugins Recommended to Use on the Server

We are allowed to use Zan's mimimap? Other servers I have played on count that as a x-ray mod. I would suggest Rei's mimimap, so that Zan's wont be abused. I dont know if you have a way of disabling the x-ray feature, but i just wanted to make a suggestion.
  3. Re: Plugins Recommended to Use on the Server

There is not a way and I don't mind using Zan's. In fact, I use it all the time and it is great. However, I am suggesting Rei's because of the more options you have as to how to appear the minimap's terrain. I do like the cave map in Zan's, but you can't find ores with it.

    iChuns's portal gun mod!
  5. Re: Plugins Recommended to Use on the Server

You can't use that on SMP...
  6. Re: Plugins Recommended to Use on the Server

I just updated a few of the links.

Note that Random Mobs is already built into MCPatcher.
  7. Re: Plugins Recommended to Use on the Server

Wow dynamic lights basically gives you a lantern. just hold a torch and you've got a handheld light source.
  8. Re: Plugins Recommended to Use on the Server

Yeah, I really like using it. Best thing is, it takes no toll on the server.
  9. Re: Plugins Recommended to Use on the Server

Do you have recommended order to install these that you find works best? im always a bit hesitant when installing lots of mods (with regards to conflicts), especially if not all of them take modloader or mcpatcher

  10. I updated my first post with the order.
  11. Im having a lot of trouble getting improved chat to work. Do i just unzip it and stick it in my jar? minecraft doesnt launch when i do that ive retried. any tips?
Mc launches but doesnt have the mod when i stick it in the modloader mods folder

    Thanks, Ron
  12. did u rename the file a .jar file again once u zipped it back up?
  13. Did you delete META-INF in minecraft.jar ?
  14. yeah I finally figured it out... whoops haha turns out i was using the wrong version. hehe XD

Thanks for all the help/tips though!
  15. can I suggest we go 'al fresco' with no plugins?
  16. Why though? I suppose to taste vanilla but I prefer modded Minecraft.

On another note Id seriously reccomend Optifine. Its a great little mod that helps deal with lag giving most people about 10 - 20 fps more. It also lets you customise the graphics more. Plus pressing Ctrl gives a nice little bonus :p

  17. I prefer Creative, but if we are gonna do survival, we may as well go the whole hog
  18. Er? Im not too sure whats that got to do with the quote?
  19. ^^ me neither...
  20. forget it then :)
